Flora and Fauna of the Monti Sibillini

Wild flowers in Umbria Italy

The park extends over an area of approximately 70,000 hectares which is home to extensive species of flora and fauna. There are over 1,800 types of wild flowers, including the Apennine edelweiss, Alpine anemone, Turk's caps and numerous orchids.

Trees are mostly downy oaks, with others intermingled, for example, beech trees, sycamore maples,
chestnut trees, yoke-elms, hop-hornbeams and manna trees.

The birds, which are varied and numerous, include yellow-billed and red-billed choughs, Greek partridges, sparrow hawks, snow finches, peregrine falcons, golden eagles, eagle owls, nightingales and skylarks. Wherever you walk in the park you will be accompanied by the joyful song of these birds.
