Setting
off from our base, we walk up above the hotel and down
into the impressive Valnerina, the “little valley
of the Nera”.
As we walk the old logging trails heading for our destination,
we visit a forgotten hermitage and chapel.

Heading
towards the small village of Fematre, we strike a path
up the valley and behind the village. It is a wilderness
that few people see other than herdsmen and shepherds.
It is here that we will enjoy our picnic in this high
valley.
After lunch, we walk up onto the impressive ridge overlooking
the rural villages of Fematre, Croce and Orvano. This
walk allows us to look back onto the National Park and
to the rolling western hills of Umbria.
Our coach then takes us back to the hotel. |
