Monday - Preci walk

Preci with shepherd and local flock
On this first day we start by walking into neighbouring Preci, which still retains the appearance and charm of the original sixteenth century village. Once famed for its school of surgeons, it is here that we have the chance to wander the narrow winding streets, whilst enjoying the views over the valley below.

From Preci we walk through the oak woods that take us around the hillside and up to the higher grazing pastures. In the distance you can see the gentle rolling landscape of Monte Moricone and adjacent mountains. Along this route we lay out our picnic and enjoy the magnificent views. From here we strike a path down towards the romantic hidden village of Roccanolfi. Founded by Nolfi, estranged queen of a mediaeval king, this village, secreted in the folds of the hills, still preserves its original ancient features and fairytale atmosphere.

From Roccanolfi we start to head down into the Preci valley until we reach Corone, once a “trading post” for the surrounding castles and villages. From here we walk through orchards and fields of meadow grass and herbs back up to the hotel.

We return back to the hotel at approximately 4:00p.m. so there is plenty of time to enjoy the swimming pool, have a drink at the bar or relax in you room.
