Wednesday - Monte Moricone walk

Rural village of Saccovescio
Leaving the hotel and walking above Castelvecchio, which holds a dominating fortified position over the Nera valley, we take a picturesque path rising up into the village of Saccovescio, a typical rural mountain settlement.

From here we start to climb the dramatic track leading to the higher plains of Monte Moricone. This is an ideal picnic spot where we share the beautiful view with the grasshoppers, wild flowers and skylarks. From the plains we start a descent down into Collescille which commands impressive views over the Preci valley.
Picnic, Monti Sibillini National Park
Collescille, located along a medieval pathway, used to be the cross over point for people travelling to Visso in the Marche region. We then follow a shaded forest path snaking along the valley side which ultimately leads us back into Saccovescio where we take the path back to Castelvecchio and the hotel..
